An evening drive turned into a misadventure for three friends as one of them died from an accidental gunshot in India's capital New Delhi. The 19-year-old man identified as Mohammad Salman died of gunshot wound to his face after his friend, Suhail Malik, 24, accidentally pressed the trigger while filming a video for Tik Tok app, reported Hindustan Times.
According to details, Salman was driving his cousin's white Hyundai Creta and the accused, Malik, was sitting in the passenger seat. The third friend, Aamir, was seated on the backseat as the trio were returning from a quick drive to India Gate.
According to the accused's claim, when the car reached on the Ranjit Singh Flyover near Connaught Place, the uneven stretch of road led to the 'accidental' firing. However, the accused Malik has been arrested on murder charges after it was revealed that he tried to destroy evidence by getting rid of his blood-stained clothes and hiding the country-made pistol.
Madhur Verma, the deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi), said, "Suhail has told us that he was holding his pistol in his hand to record a video for the TikTok app. As they passed by the Lalit Hotel around 10:30 pm, an uneven part of the flyover caused the car to lurch, leading to the shot being fired." Police are also probing how Malik possessed a pistol and have also arrested his cousin Aamir, and two others for allegedly destroying evidence.
