Kerala police arrested a 13-year-old girl after she managed to produce counterfeits using everyday printers.
According to a report in Mathrubhumi News, a Kerala-based newspaper, the girl produced the printed fake note first at a shop in Punnayurkulam and got provisions for Rs 500. The shop owner gave her balance of Rs 1500. Later, she bought two nightdresses for 400 each from a neigbhouring shop.

On interrogation, the girl first informed that the owner of a computer shop had taken the counterfeit notes and asked her to purchase items from a shop. When he was interrogated, the man proved innocent and on further questioning, the girl accepted to the crime. She had taken the colour print of the note from her home using the scanner.
In a bid to enable people to get enough clarity on the ban of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes as announced by PM Narendra Modi and the introduction of the new Rs 2,000 currency note, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has come up with a set of security features on new Rs 500, Rs 2000 notes.
