A man in Mumbai faked his own kidnapping to get rid of his troublesome wife and mother-in-law.
Ganesh Jambrekar, 32, left home on June 29 for work and did not return as it became extremely difficult for him to put up with frequent fights and harassment.
Jambrekar's wife, also 32, repeatedly attempted to contact him but in vain. However, on July 11 she received a message on her mother's phone stating that Ganesh has been kidnapped with a warning to refrain from complaining to the police.
But, the woman approached Andheri police station the same day and reported about the kidnapping. Investigation led police to Ganesh's native place Lanja in Ratnagiri and a team was sent to safely free him from the kidnappers. But police was shocked to discover that Ganesh was staying at his sister's place and was not actually kidnapped.
Ganesh was brought to Mumbai where questioning revealed that the couple were married for one year He had shifted to his wife's house soon after marriage where his mother-in-law was also staying along.
Ganesh revealed that soon their relationship turned sour and they would often fight over trivial matters. He said that his wife and the mother-in-law were constantly harassing him.
He had sought divorce from his wife but she had refused to party ways. Hence, he decided to go to his sister's house in Ratnagiri and faked his own kidnapping, according to Mid-Day report.
