9-year-old dies in India as mother throws her off roof twice

The incident took place in Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon

A 30-year-old Indian mother has been arrested for killing her 9-year-old daughter, Ashika, by pushing her off the terrace.
Shockingly, Swati Sarkar made two attempts to kill her daughter - first by throwing her off the edge of the roof, and then pushing her from the terrace of the third floor after she survived the first fall. 
The girl died on spot after the second fall.

The incident took place in Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon, NDTV reported.

Married to a techie, Swati had separated from her husband earlier this year and had planned to commit suicide after killing her mentally challenged daughter.

Having witnessed the horrific incident, neighbours tied Swati to an electric pole till police arrived.

"The accused claims the child had autism. We are yet to confirm this. We are investigating on what triggered her to take this step and her psychological state," Dr SD Sharanappa, Bengaluru senior cop, was quoted saying by the news channel.
