An Indian man, Inamul Haque fell in love with New Zealand citizen, Sofia Ali Malik and married in September 2015 on Facebook.
Based in Delhi, he applied for a culturally arranged marriage visitors visa to arrive in New Zealand, marry Sofia and then apply for a 12-month work visa to continue staying in New Zealand.
The immigration officers in NZ rejected the visa as the couple had not stayed together, according to a report in RadioNz.
Another visa application four months later was declined too.
The couple married in 2016 in Fiji but the third application for a visa was rejected again.
A helpless Sofia was quoted by RadioNz saying, "I don't have any confidence. They will decline again I know because we've tried everything, visitor's visa, marriages and everything, even a lawyer."
