iPhone works after being lying under sea for two days

London - The device had more than 80% charge despite being under water for two days.

A man dropped his iPhone 40 feet underwater while kayaking close to West Bay in Dorset, England, and assumed he lost the handset forever. But fortunately, the iPhone was found lying on the sea bed two days later by a scuba diver when it lit up after receiving a text message.
Rob Smith of Bridport in England and his cousin who was visiting from Canada, were kayaking near Durdle Door, a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in England. The iPhone, which belonged to Smith's cousin, slipped and fell 100 feet to the seabed and the duo assumed they would never be able to recover the phone and returned home.
Two days later, Cerys Hearsey, 36, went scuba diving at the same spot and noticed a flash of light on the seabed. When she took a closer look she was stunned to see iPhone lighting up on receiving a message. Although, the phone was in a waterproof case it is surprising how it was still working and had 84 per cent battery life even after being underwater for two days.
Hearsey took the phone back to the shore and scrolled through the contacts to trace its owner. "I picked it up and returned to land where I cut it out of its case as it was starting to get a bit of water inside. I then looked up the numbers and got in touch with the owner's family," Hearsey was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.
Later, Hearsey met Smith, 34, and his wife Evie, and handed over the iPhone to them as their cousin was already on a flight back to Canada.
The scuba diver added, "Phones are so critical to life nowadays they can be difficult to replace. I just hope someone would do the same for me one day."
While an elated Smith said, "I would like to give a big thank you to the whole scuba diving team. My cousin had a lot of pictures of his trip to the UK saved on his phone. He was upset as he would have to pay another $900 for a new phone."
