Alert issued against using UAE number plates in UK

The UAE Embassy in London has urged Emiratis and visitors from the UAE to be cautious when driving in the UK.
The UAE Embassy in London told Khaleej Times students from the UAE, as well as visitors, must be vigilant when driving with UAE licensed plates in popular areas in the UK.
A statement read: "The embassy urges UAE students and visitors to exercise vigilance when using their UAE vehicle number plates in popular areas."
The statement came as a response after the horrific assault on a UAE national on Saturday by an Arab man, who vandalised a number of vehicles that are registered with UAE and other GCC licensed plates.
Videos revealed the man, who was wearing a black mask, spray painting 'war' on a number of luxury vehicles on Brompton Street in London.
Abdullah Al Hosani, 31-year-old Emirati student at Coventry University, who attempted to corner the suspect while he was in his Mercedes SUV, was then assaulted and repeatedly hit on the head through the car window, in Knightsbridge, near Harrods.
After the attack, Al Hosani took to social media to assure his followers that he was safe, after the videos rapidly spread online.
"I want to thank everyone who asked about me, I am doing well, thank God," he said.
The UAE Embassy in London told Khaleej Times the case is currently with the Metropolitan Police.
"The embassy emphasises that London is a very busy and cosmopolitan city. It welcomes tourists from all over the world alongside international students and working professionals from every walk of life."
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old suspect appeared in Westminster Court on Monday and was charged with assault and for carrying out a series of vandalism and damages to vehicles.
