A mathematician couple has planned to involve 'mathematical tidbits' as part of their wedding day activities. Although the couple's love for mathematics is understandable, the news of solving maths problems will certainly shock the guests.
The bride-to-be shared her weird wedding plan on Facebook which was met with criticism. The unnamed woman wrote in her post that she and her partner are both mathematicians and so would be incorporating "mathematical tidbits" into their wedding day.
In a screenshot of the woman's Facebook status which was uploaded to a Reddit Bridezilla's thread, hundreds of people have since read it and responded, reported Mirror.uk. The post read: "Our wedding (which is coming up soon) will be perfused with mathematical tidbits. For example, at dinner, guests will be required to answer a mathematical question to find out where they sit. Every guest/couple will be presented with a unique question - its difficulty and subject matter drawn directly from what we know their mathematical background to be."
The woman explained that many of their guests there on the day would have a research-level mathematical background and some of the questions had even been taken directly from their research papers. But despite all the effort the couple put in to plan their 'mathematical wedding', many thought it was a bad idea to make maths mandatory at a wedding.
One person commented: "Upon looking into my background, they would likely decide to just sit me at the kid's table." While another wrote: "Math-shaming. My immediate RSVP would be a no." A third person added: "It does sound perfect for them but I would decline due to a very likely mathematically-induced anxiety attack."
But there were a few who thought the couple's idea was a good with one Reddit user writing: "My mom's a mathematician and while she had a Disney wedding, I could see her doing this with absolutely zero malicious intent or creating a situation where someone is embarrassed."
