A Michigan woman who received gifts weighing over 81 pounds on an online gift-exchange platform, was thrilled to discover that her Secret Santa was Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
The woman, only identified as Shelby, participated in 95 RedditGifts exchanges and received a haul of presents on December 18. The billionaire philanthropist joins RedditGifts' Secret Santa exchange each year, Daily Mail quoted ABC27 reports.
"I always thought it would be super cool to be matched with him some day, but I never really would have expected this to happen to me,' Shelby was quoted as saying in MarketWatch.com. Gates and his team do research for their recipient each year.
The gifts included books, treats and nerdy memorabilia, a Harry Potter Santa hat and a giant Hogwarts castle, R2D2 puzzle that is no longer being sold, and a donation in her late mother's memory to the American Heart Association.
The elated woman revealed that her gift box was so big that it did not fit in her car and she had to open it at the FedEx location itself. The gifts also included an original manuscript of "The Great Gatsby," signed by Gates, a handmade quilt depicting scenes from Nintendo's iconic 'Legend of Zelda' video game series and embroidered L.L. Bean jacket worn by a crew member.
The pack of gifts included a photograph of Gates signing a letter enclosed as proof.
