Woman caught on camera stealing Uber driver's tips

She reaches towards the tip jar in full view of the camera

In full view of a security camera, a woman grabbed all the money in her Uber driver's tip jar and quickly fled the scene.
According to the Daily Mail, the passenger was with two other travellers when the incident happened. In the footage, the passenger appeared to look directly into the camera - waiting for the right moment to steal the tips. As the vehicle comes to a stop, she clutches the money in the jar and runs away from the vehicle. The Uber driver only realized what was happening minutes later as he looked at his tip jar which was completely emptied out. The theft happened in New York City.
"What's been shown has no place on our app and the rider's access to the app has been removed," an Uber spokeswoman said regarding the matter, the New York Post reported.
Uber has been in contact with the driver to offer support.
