A man, who broke into an abandoned house in Houston, Texas, could not believe his eyes when he saw a large tiger inside. At first, the man thought he was hallucinating. He soon realised that it was a real, live tigress sitting inside the garage of the house.
The man immediately called the police who rushed to the spot and secured the tigress in a cage with a nylon strap on its neck. The tigress weighed around 450kg and was said to be healthy but was dehydrated. It was later moved to a special shelter.
Footage of the caged tigress went viral on social media after it was uploaded on Houston city's official Twitter handle. The clip shows the huge cat being lifted with the help of a crane. According to Mid-day, the local police sergeant told media that the caller was terrified upon seeing the animal. They first thought the man was playing a prank.

"The tiger is pretty large, so she doesn't look underfed. She was thirsty," said Lara Cottingham, a spokeswoman for Houston's animal control agency. The spokeswoman further added that the tigress did not look threatening but they tranquillised her before transport. "It is a beautiful animal and we want it to live a happy, healthy life. Living in a cage is not the optimal circumstances for anyone involved, Cottingham said.
Arturo Jimenez, a resident within the area, said; "It's kinda scary. In Houston, that is not normal."
