The US President Donald Trump renewed his country's participation in the Iran nuclear deal on Friday by granting Tehran relief from US sanctions - but his aides said it would be the last time he would do so.
A senior administration official said Trump wants the 2015 Iran deal strengthened or he will unilaterally withdraw from the international pact.
He has called this "the last chance" for the agreement.
"Today, I am waiving the application of certain nuclear sanctions, but only in order to secure our European allies' agreement to fix the terrible flaws of the Iran nuclear deal. This is a last chance," Donald Trump said in a statement, Efe reported.
"In the absence of such an agreement, the United States will not again waive sanctions in order to stay in the Iran nuclear deal. And if at any time I judge that such an agreement is not within reach, I will withdraw from the deal immediately," he warned.
