Pizza was worth the wait for a Virginia couple -not for their appetite but their affluence. Mary Heath and James Brunk won $1 million lottery jackpot on the ticket they bought while waiting for their pizza to be ready.
The couple from Montvale told Virginia Lottery officials that they decided to try their luck and bought a lottery ticket while waiting for the pizza they had ordered. The couple stopped at the Blue Ridge Minute Mart and purchased a Double Cash Doubler ticket, and were thrilled to discovered they had won a $1 million top prize.
According to reports in UPI, the couple said they rushed back to the store to verify the winnings. Surprisingly, Heath said that Brunk had predicted earlier the Double Cash Doubler was going to be their lucky ticket. "He told me a week before, 'You watch -- I'm gonna win big on this'. We sure did, Heath said."
The lucky couple said they "cried like babies" on winning the jackpot and hid the ticket in a sock drawer until they could visit lottery headquarters together. On plans to use the massive winnings, the couple said they will repay debt and buy a home.
