A 17-month-old toddler in Florida died after his mother forgot to drop him off at daycare and left him behind in the car for over eight hours.
According to Florida Department of Children and Families report, the boy was found dead by his mother at the end of the day and was rushed to the hospital where she worked but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The boy's family was residing with friends as their house was being tented and the mother, who was under stress at the time of the incident, took a different route to work on the ill-fated day. The Florida Department of Children and Families report stated: 'On July 13, 2018, after finishing her day, [the mother] proceeded to [the boy's] daycare, where she believed she dropped him off that morning. Upon being informed that [he] had never arrived at the facility, [she] began to realize what had occurred. '[She] drove back to the hospital where she worked and medical staff began to administer resuscitation efforts. [The boy] was transported to a larger hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival."
Pembroke Pines, where the mother parked her car all day, said in a statement: "Leaving a child inside a car is a year-long hazard, but it is especially deadly during the summer months when temperatures can climb above 100 degrees within minutes. Always double check your vehicle after you park for loved ones or pets."
The toddler is reported to be the 24th child to have died in similar circumstances across the US. No charges have yet been filed against the mother, reported Metro.uk.
