With the world facing a crisis like the pandemic which has lasted over a year now, many people have become more and more inclined towards celebrating the little joys of life on a daily basis, perhaps more so than was the case earlier.

The happiness we hitherto derived from travelling, holidays, exotic sights and sounds, or even, as social butterflies would swear by, parties and get-togethers, we’re now getting (or trying to get) from something as simple as a colourful bunch of roadside flowers, birds chirping in our balcony, or even, at the end of a tough day, a good book or our favourite series on television.

It may seem cliched but the pandemic has just driven home the point of the “little things” actually being “the big things”.

Among these little things is flowers. We see them, thanks to the gorgeous landscaping in Dubai, almost everywhere. They peep out in a riot of colour in stores all over, begging us to take them home. Who can deny that flowers (both real and artificial) are something that always cheer you up? Keeping this in mind (and being flower enthusiasts) it tickled our fancy when a local bespoke decor label decided to do something different with their floral arrangements, something very in tune with a popular web series that has boomed since its release on an OTT platform.

The latest campaign by Ineza, founded by Geraldine Beacon and Zahra Jaffrey, features pieces inspired by hairstyles from the popular Netflix series Bridgerton. Intricate floral arrangements come in an elegant feminine silhouette vase paired with delicate flowers, replicating Regency hairstyles; the pieces include — Daphne (played by Phoebe Dynevor in the show), Lola (inspired by Queen Charlotte’s character, played by Golda Rosheuvel) and Marina (Ruby Barker).

Geraldine and Zahra told City Times that the rise of OTT culture as a consequence of the pandemic spawned certain trends — one of which was Bridgerton, which portrays a world of wealth, love and betrayal set against the backdrop of Regency era England. “When conceptualising our campaigns, we like to keep in line with current moods and trends. Bridgerton has become so topical, amassing a cult like following with its sheer opulence, trailblazing fashion trends and the first of its kind in colour-blind casting, we knew that this aesthetic was one that will be hugely popular, and we weren’t wrong. We picked the three vase styles based on the dramatic and decadent wigs and head dresses of the period which we knew that we could embellish in our own signature style.”

Regency style has made a comeback with Bridgerton. How did they adapt the idea for floral arrangements?

Bridgerton has resurrected the elegance of the Regency era under the prominent societal backdrop. This era encompassed a time of great social, political, and economic change, a small synergy to what we are in now. We looked at textures and colour in our florals that were able to reflect the complex nature of these headpieces with pastel hues of femininity, which were still able to retain the beauty of that period.”

Geraldine and Zahra who admit that “Flowers will never go out of fashion, and are a timeless token of affection” also believe that the pandemic has been a cause for introspection and also encouraged the need to show affection and appreciation. “We have seen more people wanting to celebrate life as they understand that it is truly a gift, and to lift loved ones up at a time when they are enduring so much. The new landscape has seen a welcome rise in displaying self-love and showing others you care.”

And what better way to do it than with flowers?
