Bollywood lovers have a chance to celebrate the onset of the New Year with tons of popular Hindi numbers.
On the occasion of their 25th Anniversary, the Country Club Group has organised a New Year’e eve party where Daisy Shah, who made her debut alongside Salman Khan in Jai Ho, will put up a sizzling show by performing on the best beats of 2014. Pop singer, Aditi Singh Sharma, will join Shah, along with her band to deliver a mesmerising musical night. Anusha Dandekar will host the show. We spoke to Daisy over the telephone from Mumbai ahead of her performance in Dubai.
Dance with Daisy
Daisy who was in the midst of rehearsals when we caught up with her said: “I am dancing on twelve songs. My favourite songs are from Jai Ho. And apart from that I am dancing on songs from Gunday, R... Rajkumar, Lovely from Happy New Year, Jummme Ki Raat from Kick and London Thumakda from Queen. Rehearsals are going well and the act is looking very good.”
When we asked her whether she is giving her input on the choreography side (Daisy was a choreographer before becoming an actor), she made it clear that she does not like to play two roles at the same time “If I am being a performer, then I will not interfere with the choreography at all,” said Daisy.
Unlike the usual perception of the life of a glamorous actress, Daisy told us that she prefers spending her New Year’s Eves at home. “I keep my New Year night very quiet; I like to enjoy spending time with my family. Most of my friends travel out of the country, hence I stay in. I also enjoy having house parties, the best part about house party is that you can wear whatever you want; you do not have to think of wearing heels and designer clothes. I enjoy my pajama party more than dress up parties.
Though I generally go for Chinese food but since it is not good for the body, I prefer to go for simple home cooked meal.” And as for her most memorable NY Eve so far: “My most memorable New Year night was last year when I celebrated with Salman Khan and his family. We danced the whole night and there was great food around.”
Lets talk movies
A young girl who made her start in Bollywood as a choreographer was picked up by the most popular talent hunter of Bollywood, Salman Khan, for his film Jai Ho. Daisy’s debut had a world premiere in Dubai early this year. so how does it feel to end the year in the same country? “I am super excited to come to Dubai; I am coming there after almost a year. I remember the world premiere of Jai Ho, it was a special day and to end the year by doing a dance show in the same city feels extremely special,” said Daisy.
It's almost been a year since Daisy made her debut, but the actress is yet to sign another project. Other than Sonakshi Sinha, almost all of Salman’s debut-making heroines have not tasted much success like Zarine Khan, Sneha Ullal and Bhoomika Chawla. Daisy told us that she is on the verge of signing another film with Salman Khan and one with Sajid Nadiadwala but so far everything is in the pipeline.
Country Club members will get the chance to meet and greet Daisy Shah, Aditi Singh Sharma and Anusha Dandekar on December 30 at 7.30pm at The Arena in Dubai World Trade Centre. Daisy will perform at The Arena in Dubai World Trade Centre on December 31.
