Oz on the way to Dubai
WE’VE ALMOST REACHED the Yellow Brick Road, as The Wizard of Oz launches in Dubai next weekend.
A total of 19 performances of the live musical will take place at the Madinat Theatre from April 3 to 18, featuring both entertainers from London’s West End as well as local talent.
Based on L. Frank Baum’s children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the story became a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the hit 1939 movie starring Judy Garland.
UAE audiences will get to see Elizabeth Carter play Dorothy, as she undertakes a magical adventure in the land of Oz alongside the Tin Man (James Parkes), the Cowardly Lion (Gavin Ashbarry) and the Scarecrow (Barnaby Thompson).
The show is being put on by Popular Productions, the company which has previously stages shows such as Oliver and The Sound of Music in the city.
