As the International Woolmark Prize enters its fourth year, the prestigious award, known for bringing emerging design to the world stage, heads to Dubai.
The Woolmark Company will host the annual Middle East, India, Pakistan Award at Manzil Downtown Dubai on July 22. The event will shine the spotlight on the growth of luxury retail in the city and the emergence of new designer talent from the UAE and neighbouring countries.
Eleven of the region’s most promising fashion designers have been put forward by the official nominating bodies for the Middle East, India and Pakistan. Nominees will present sketches of six outfits to a panel of industry experts which include local industry heavy weights like Nez Gebreel, CEO of Dubai Design & Fashion Council, designer Osman Yousefzada (pictured), Louise Nichol, Editor-in- Chief of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Che Kurrien, Editor of GQ India.
Nominees for the regional award include Mira Hayek and Bashar Assaf from Lebanon, Akaaro, Nachiket Barve and Suket Dhir from India, Sania Maskatiya, Misha Lakhani and Republic from Pakistan, and Thamanyah, Bleach and Taller Marmo from UAE.
