Mendip Triumphs
Dettori partnered Mendip in the opening race, a 1400m Thoroughbreds Conditions with 14 runners lining up for honours.
The Italian-born jockey crossed the finish line easily ahead of the Brazilian colt Uncle Tom under Tiago Pereira with the Ali Rashid Al Raihe-trained Happy Dubai, Royston Ffrench up, finishing less than two lengths behind in third place.
The race was attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
In the second race, Satish Seemar teamed up with Richard Mullen to land the 1400m aQuaris Thoroughbreds Handicap in great style aboard the local-trained Escape Route. The six-year-old son of Elusive Quality came from last to first and sprinted home.
The victory was the first success for the formidable duo in the Dubai International Racing Carnival and came to underline their impressive performance right from the start of the season.
Dettori came with a late run onboard Highland Glen to seal a quick double for the Godolphin powerful stables in the 2200m Thoroughbreds Handicap InsideOut third race on the card.
