DUBAI - The new partnership of John Gosden and William Buick did the better work with the British mare Dar Re Mi to land the $5m Dubai Sheema Classic ahead of fast finishing Japanese mare Buena Vista.

Defending Anthem under Ahmed Ajtebi started public favourite but was far from convincing. He finished less than four lengths off the pace sixth just behind Godolphin raider Cavalryman under Frankie Dettori.

Ajtebi said: “This horse has been away from the track for quite a long time, but he did nothing wrong since he needed the race.”
