Ajtebi was dismounted and fell from the back of the horse at the start gate when Desuetude stumbled on the opening day of the Carnival. Ajtebi was believed to be seriously injured when the horse walked on him, but fortunately he survived the bad incident and was discharged from hospital on the same night.

On his return, the winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile partnered Allybar to beat hot favourite Presvis in the second race on the card, Al Tayer Motors Trophy in the blue silks of Godolphin. Half an hour later, he earned a quick double for the powerful stables to win the 2200m Ford Edge Trophy to the delight of his trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

Saudi mare So Shiny raced keenly under French jockey Olivier Peslier to win by a small margin from fast finishing Indian mare Oasis Star. Indian trainer Cooverji Katrak said it’s the first time for Oasis Star to race on the All-Weather track.

“She’s a turf horse but we couldn’t find a suitable race for her. I think she did well and will improve of her first run,” he said.
