Abu Dhabi Royal Stables Shine in Dressage Competition

DUBAI - Charlotte Drakeley riding Ronaldo from Abu Dhabi Royal Stables clinched the Advanced Medium Class when the Emirates Equestrian Centre (EEC) hosted the eighth national affiliated dressage competition at their facilities near Bab Al Shams Hotel and Resort, a press release said.

Riders and horses performed the elegant movements of dressage in classes ranging from the Advanced Medium test to Preliminary, and also included in the evening was the class for Purebred Arabians.

Talented young rider Drakeley won with a score of 65.5 per cent. Charlotte has been missing from the scene for the last month but was pleased with her comeback performance. “It is still a new partnership and I haven’t been riding at this level for long. I am so pleased he has come back so well after his break from competing.”


Janis Jackson riding the impressive black gelding Vedo from Emirates Equestrian Centre was the runner up with 62.4 per cent.

Winner of the Medium class with an impressive 67.9 per cent was EEC’s Tracy Gill riding the Latvian bred mare Picarda. Following in second place with a very close score of 67.3 per cent was Christel Langlois on her stallion R S Kahraman from Abu Dhabi Royal Stables. Third place went to Janis Jackson riding Vedo finishing with a score of 64.5 per cent.


In the Elementary class, the winning rosette went to Mikaela Bockstrom riding the striking chestnut stallion Hash du Val from Abu Dhabi Royal Stables, scoring 65.2 per cent. Second was Jo McGowan riding the often temperamental palomino stallion Senator from Zabeel Riding Barn, and in third place was Dara McKenna riding the ex-race horse Galant Glory from EEC. Their scores were 64.5 per cent and 63.8 per cent respectively.
