Announcing a conference on eye surgeries scheduled for Monday in the Capital, Dr Bobby Qureshi, an ophthalmologist from Scotland’s St Andrews University, said he will introduce a new technology for cataract surgery that is the safest blade-free eye operation, giving freedom from glasses.

The conference will discuss and examine the future of cataract surgery, lens implant, genetic therapy and low vision.

“We will offer our expertise and experience to doctors and specialists in the UAE and GCC countries regarding those technologies to make life easier and provide effective solutions and be able to normally live their coming days,” said Qureshi, who is also the Medical Director of London Eye Hospital, one of the most specialised eye surgery hospitals in the world.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the conference will be attended by ophthalmologists from across the world, including the UAE and GCC countries.

The conference will also be held in Doha on May 3.
