Abu Dhabi’s VPS Healthcare Group will roll out modern cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and research facilities in the UAE soon.

The initiative will start with the first VPS health promotion centre set to open at Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall by the end of 2014.

The second health promotion centre will be opened at Meydan project in Dubai. In this connection, an MoU was signed with Seoul’s St. Mary Hospital (SSMH), which will serve VPS Healthcare as its technical services partner, advising on the methodology for the establishment of the new centres, acquisition of the best technological tools, and assembling world-class teams of medical professionals.

“SSMH will also provide a wide range of consulting services to help VPS Healthcare achieve its goals, drawing on a wealth of institutional knowledge,” said Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, managing director of VPS Healthcare, at a Press conference.

VPS Healthcare has a network of hospitals and chain of clinics and has signed several MoUs with a consortium of Korean healthcare providers.

Modern healthcare is focused on health maintenance and disease prevention, promoting healthy eating and exercise habits, as well as regular screenings for early detection and intervention, Dr Shamsheer said.

SSMH has achieved success in many areas utilising this approach. “SSMH has a global track record of achievement ranking in the top-tier worldwide in the five-year survival rate metric.”

VPS Healthcare expects to leverage SSMH’s technical know-how and experience in setting up and managing its health promotion centres.
