A prayer mat for Dh1,100 will surely catch your attention next time you go shopping in Dubai. That’s right, Muslims in Dubai will now be able to buy the special prayer mat which promises health benefits. The Timez5 prayer mat is highly recommended by physiotherapists, and is used by patients with neurological conditions.

The prayer mat claims to lower muscle pain, stiffness and joint aches during prayer. Timez5, the Canadian company behind the innovation believes people in the UAE are ‘early adopters of technology’.

“ People in the UAE are early adopters of technology and that’s why we decided to have a physical presence here,” said Nader Sabry CEO and founder of Timez5 Global. Every year, more than 60 million prayer mats are produced for Muslim worshippers. “We have 12 patents on the product and we work towards creating a physiospiritual experience. The Muslim prayer process is a very healthy one and this prayer mat makes it simple and more enjoyable,” added Nader.

The mats, which are made in Canada, are sold across 35 countries and Dubai will be the first country where the mats will be retailed at outlets. Currently, the prayer mat is available online (www.timez5.com) and retails sales have started in Etihad Mall. Imam Shabbir Ally, an Islamic scholar who attended the launch of the mat in Dubai said: “My wife has used the mat and she has enjoyed the experience. This technology is innovative and I believe it is useful for Muslims across the world.”
