Ras Al Khaimah — The Ras Al Khaimah Medical Zone has decided to close down Al Zaith Health Centre for six months to carry out renovation.

According to a top official, the RAK Department of Public Works and Services will undertake the maintenance and expansion works. Dr Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director of the RAK Medical Zone, said major amendments are to be introduced to the main building, clinics and even car parking lots.

“The main building of the centre will include all medical services under one roof, unlike the present building where patients have to move from one section in the clinic to another outside.”

New clinics, nursing stations, extra rooms, and a laboratory will be built inside the main building to make it easy for patients and visitors, save time and gain customer satisfaction, he added.

More well-designed parking spaces will be built, which can facilitate people’s inflow and outflow. Dr Al Nuaimi said the residents of Al Zaith area will be transferred to the Daqdaqa Health Centre during the development works as it is the nearest to Al Zaith and nearby areas. “All medical and nursing staff will also be transferred to the same.”

Meanwhile, the development works underway at the Rams Health Centre, which kicked off two months ago, are slated to be completed in the first quarter of next year. Dr Jassim Kleib, manager of first aid care at the RAK Medical Zone, said the timings of the Daqdaqa Health Centre will be amended to meet the expected increase in demand during this period.

“The Daqdaqa Health Centre will be supported with more medics, nurses, and administrative staff to start receiving the patients from 7.30am to 10pm including a one-hour break to change the medical staff.”
