MGM Medical Centre, established by visionary Dr. Padam Mohnot in October 2016, stands proud as a shining example of true dedication to healthcare. Sporting the slogan, "Healing Hands, Caring Hearts", Dr. Mohnot and his team of specialists go beyond prescribing medicines to cater to a patient's complete physical, mental and emotional well-being.
"MGM Medical Centre came into existence by partnering with my good friend - Satishji Gadoya, well-known industrialist - owner/founder of Gadoya Holdings. We share a common vision and mission to serve humanity," said Managing Director and General Physician Dr. Mohnot, MBBS, FICA (US), who has over 40 years of experience dealing with health issues of blue-collared workers in the UAE.
After pursuing four decades of medical practice in the UAE with business empire Bukhatir Group, paired with previous experience in renowned hospitals in India, Dr. Mohnot set up MGM Medical Centre in Sharjah with a seasoned team consisting of General Physicians, an Orthopaedic Specialist, General Dentist, Specialist - Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Infertility, Physiotherapists, Specialised Trainer for Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) Fitness, and certified nurses.
Each doctor at MGM Medical Centre is exceptionally qualified and renowned in their respective fields. For instance, Dr. Usha Rani Lankala, MBBS, MD, DGO, is a Specialist Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Infertility with over 35 years of experience across India, London and the Middle East region. Armed with 13 years of practice in the UAE alone, her expertise in ultrasound, counselling and infertility services have earned prominence in the emirate through word of mouth. Furthermore, she is affiliated to Zulekha hospital and Thumbay hospitals for conducting deliveries, Caesarean sections and other major gynaecological surgeries.
What truly sets the clinic apart is its latest Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation section featuring a state-of-the-art spinal decompression machine, which according to Dr. Mohnot is the first of its kind in Sharjah. The non-invasive device is designed to treat various spinal issues, ranging from chronic cervical spondylitis and chronic lumbago pain to thoracic spine pain and disc problems.
MGM's Orthopaedic Specialist Dr. Abhimanyu Lodha, MS, MCh Ortho UK, explained that the sophisticated machine utilises scientific measures to offer long-term healing, complemented by comprehensive counselling from the MGM's team of experts.
"We have received and treated many patients from different walks of life who'd come in with advanced spine, bone and joint problems, for which their previous doctors had advised them to opt for surgery. These patients have shown incredible results after sessions on the spinal decompression machine. Surgery may be a faster option, but at MGM Medical Centre, we aim to focus on all the aspects of improving healthcare. We try to avoid surgeries unless absolutely necessary, and that too, after following certain modalities for prevention - such as physiotherapy, maintaining posture, exercises, proper eating habits, etc. I have seen people improve quite a lot with this during my 16-plus years of practice," he added.
Its Rehabilitation unit is part of MGM's mission towards wellness and prevention. Its EMS Fitness option, in particular, is a 20-minute programme per session that activates deep muscles to promote calorie burning. When paired with regular exercise, patients can lose almost 3,000 calories per week, thus promising wellness.
Taking care of the dental department is Dr. Rajeev Garg, B.D.S., General Dentist, who joined the team in the inspirational footsteps of Dr. Mohnot.
"Dr. Mohnot left a deep first impression on me as he appeared as a visionary doctor who is more concerned about the health and well-being of his patients during our first meeting. Since then, it has been a great journey. He is like a fatherly figure to me, and I have seen him interacting with patients with genuine kindness from the heart," he said.
Dr. Garg has 16-plus years of clinical experience, notably in Cosmetic and Surgical Dentistry. He is also a Member of Indian, Australian and American Dental Associations as well as International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) and its prosthetic division.
Looking ahead, MGM Medical Centre aims to set up branches in Dubai, and add to its portfolio of medical services, with a cardiology and dermatology department, an X-Ray laboratory as well as ultra-modern options for laser treatment and hair transplantation.
Inspirational words from Dr. Padam Mohnot:
"Health is wealth; A message to youngsters: Early to bed and early to rise is a way of being healthy, wealthy and wise. Be positive, think positive, be happy and spread happiness. Laughter is also a medicine."
Dr. Mohnot follows an impressive routine that keeps him healthy and active at the age of 68. He wakes up at 5:30 am and dedicated an hour and half at the Sharjah Corniche to yoga, meditation, prayer and sunbathing to ensure sufficient intake of vitamin D. On Fridays, he takes a 10-km stroll that he completes with a cup of tea and healthy dose of laughter with friends.
