In a world first, Dr. Jaber Al-Khaili, the Captain from the Directorate of Medical Services of Abu Dhabi Police, is participating in a surgery of transplanting an artificial shoulder using artificial intelligence at the French Hospital Avicenna, in Paris.
Al-Khaili explained that performing the surgery relies on the exceptional skills of the surgical team, according to a statement issued on social media on Tuesday,
He added that the team is using data collected by virtual reality technology and different scans done by a special helmet and specially designed programs, which are now being applied in detail and with high accuracy on the patient's body.
Al Khaili, who is currently studying in France, stressed that Abu Dhabi Police is very concerned about providing care and support to overseas students to enable them to develop their skills and transfer their experiences to UAE, successfully.

He added that developing UAE students' skills will help them to provide the best services to clients in modern ways as per international standards, which would ensure the country's place in the future that will enhance the success and leadership in the international community.
It is noteworthy that the surgery being performed by French doctor, Thomas Gregory, is also being broadcasted on channels directly from the hospital to the entire world, discussing its details with senior surgeons in the United States, the United Kingdom and South Korea, on three different continents in real-time.
