DUBAI — Alexandria Airlines has launched its service for regular commercial flights between Alexandria, Egypt and Dubai starting yesterday, its general sales agent (GSA) in the UAE announced.
Hossein Teherani, General Manager of Al Rais Travel and Shipping Agencies, GSA for Alexandria Airlines, said that the new carrier has started its operations between its hub in Alexandria and the emirate.
The airline, which was established early last year, first operated domestic and regional flights between Sharm El-Sheikh, Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and other tourist sites in Egypt, as well as to Amman in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Doha in Qatar, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, Damascus in Syria, and Beirut in Lebanon.
“Alexandria Airlines’ introduction in Dubai will mean an increase in air transport movements between Egypt and the UAE in particular, the rest of the Arab region in general,” said Ali Braizat, the airline's vice-president for commercial affairs.
The airline has decided to offer introductory summer fares starting from Dh1,140 return. Baggage allowance has also been set at 30kgs per person. The aircraft has 114 seats available in four classes.
