Saudi Arabia’s customs authorities said it allows its citizens and Gulf nationals to import two car maximum a year into the Kingdom.

The Saudi General Authority of Customs clarified that non-Gulf residents can import one car in three years, Emarat Al Youm reported.

The authority urged people to get news from the official sources to avoid any confusion.

The kingdom was the 15th largest importing country of cars in the world in 2019, importing $10.9 billion worth of vehicles, an increase of 1.4 per cent from the previous year.

The country’s car import market took a major hit in July, hitting the lowest level since 2015 after government tripled its value-added tax.

Globally, total purchases of imported cars hit $774.3 billion in 2019.
