The Dubai Municipality saved Dh7.9 million in 2013 as a result of implementing the suggestions of employees in different areas of its work. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Dubai Municipality, said the suggestion system, since its inception in 2000, has been improving its performance each year.

The total number of suggestions from 2000 to 2013 reached 47,722, with 9,600 employees contributing. The total revenues and financial savings achieved from the suggestions during this period amounted to Dh319.138 million, Lootah said during the honouring ceremony.

“The Dubai Municipality spent Dh5.874 million to honour and encourage employees who gave useful suggestions. During 2013, there were 9,543 suggestions and the savings from implementing these suggestions totaled Dh7.991 million,” he explained. “This year, we have honoured 34 suggestions submitted by 89 employees from different departments. We recognised their contribution to the suggestion system under the title ‘Have Your Say’.”

Khalid Abdul Rahim, Director of the HR Department said: “The civic body has been encouraging its employees to come up with innovative and constructive ideas to serve the community better as it understands the real value of its human resources who have profound knowledge and experience in diversified areas of municipal and public works.

“We aim to be the number one and the best in our services and performance — both in the region and the world. Our dreams are big because we work under the wise leadership of the emirate of Dubai, who encourage the people to have never-ending dreams in achieving excellence in everything we do,” he said.
