Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of UAE Federal National Council (FNC), has welcomed results of talks between Iran and P5+1 over Tehran’s nuclear programme and expressed his hope the two sides would reach an inclusive, final agreement that ensures the lift of international sanctions on Iran and promotes peace in the Gulf region and the world at large.

Al Murr made his remarks during a meeting in Tehran with Iranian President Hasan Rohani.

Al Murr conveyed the greetings of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Rohani.

In turn, the Iranian president asked the UAE official to convey his regards to the UAE leaders.

Al Murr said the UAE and Iran maintain longstanding, historic ties based on mutual respect, good neighbourliness, and joint cooperation for serving security and stability in the region under the leaderships of the two friendly countries.

The two sides stressed the importance of furthering bilateral ties in light of reciprocal visits between UAE Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif within joint cooperation in handling files of common issues.

The meeting discussed the outcome of the 9th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC), which Tehran hosted last week.
