The UAE Project to Assist Pakistan (PAP) has announced the completion of construction of the first-ever model school of Wana in South Waziristan at a total cost of $500,000. The construction is an implementation of the UAE President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s instructions to support the education sector in Pakistan.

PAP management said the two-storey 774-square metre school will accommodate 150 students and house a lecture hall, five classrooms, a library, IT and science laboratories, offices for administrators and teachers, and modern sports facilities to enable students to take their lessons in an ideal learning environment.

According to the PAP management, the south Waziristan was chosen to build this state-of-the-art school because of the area’s lack of education and other basic infrastructure utilities like roads and transport modes.

The President’s initiatives in the area also includes vital health, education, transport and water projects.

It added establishment of such schools will revive students’ hope to get education in modern schools even in remote areas, therefore ensuring better future for them and their families. These institutions will help Pakistan groom a new well-educated and professionally qualified generation capable of addressing future challenges.

Guardians praised the role of the UAE, under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa, for supporting learning process by building modern schools.

They noted that this is a significant transformation toward the betterment of South Waziristan, adding that the distribution of school bags and stationary was a positive step in the best interest of low-income families, poor and orphan students, as it will ease their financial burdens.
