Abu Dhabi — All technical preparations for the forthcoming elections to the Federal National Council (FNC) have been completed, said Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for FNC Affairs.

At a recent meeting chaired by the minister, the National Election Committee scrutinised all technical aspects of the electoral process and concluded that transparent procedures would be in place for the 2015 FNC elections, the date of which is yet to be finalised.

“All steps have been taken to ensure that the best standards and regulatory procedures are upheld during the electoral process. The committee will work on the implementation of the electoral process in line with the leadership’s vision to promote political participation and enhance the representation and effectiveness of the Federal National Council,” said Dr Gargash, noting that the panel is going to manage the FNC elections for the third time.

He said the committee also discussed public awareness initiatives for the elections and looked at the rules guiding the conduct of elections on the one hand and their implementation and management on the other.

The minister commended the members of the committee for their in-depth discussions that contributed to the preparations for the adoption of the executive instructions as well as the technical, media and marketing plans.

Dr Gargash said the NEC further discussed the media strategy to achieve the best possible means of communication with members of the UAE society to make information on the electoral process available to everyone through newspapers, radio and social media channels.
