Sultan reshuffles Executive Council

SHARJAH — His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri decree restructuring the Executive Council of the emirate chaired by Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

Decree No. 25/ Year 2012 named Deputy Ruler Shaikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi as the Vice-Chairman, and Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, Shaikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Shaikh Issam bin Saqr bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Shaikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Shaikh Khalid bin Saqr bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Khamis bin Salem Khamis Al Suwaidi, Abdullah Mohammed Al Owais, Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Tarek Sultan Al Khadhem, Salah Batti Obaid Al Muhairi, Rashid Ahmed bin Sheikh, Khalifa Musabbah Al Tunaiji, Abdullah Ali Mubarak Mahyan, Abdullah Saleh Suwaiji, Nasser Khamis Sulaiman Naqbi, Dr Ghanem Mohammed Al Hajri, Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Hana Saif Al Suwaidi and Sultan Abdullah Al Suwaidi as members.

Shaikh Sultan also issued a law regulating the objectives, powers and functions of the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs in the emirate.

Through a number of councils, the department aims to: provide a decent standard of living for the citizens as a basic right; create awareness and a general community culture; exploit available possibilities in coordination with the competent authorities to create housing, educational, social, cultural and health services; and strengthen the bonds of social cohesion and contribute to maintaining security in the community so as to ensure comprehensive and sustainable development. —
