Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the emirate’s Executive Council, has issued directives to immediately implement the first phase of projects carried out by Brand Dubai.

He also instructed that the timeline specified for completing these projects, launched following directives issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a dazzling open air gallery, be adhered to and all essentials that guarantee swift implementation be provided so as to achieve the objectives set out by the initiative to emphasise Dubai’s rich experience in development and innovation.

Shaikh Hamdan’s directives came during his visit to the headquarters of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) where he viewed the latest projects of Brand Dubai, the inaugural venture of GDMO tasked with proposing novel initiatives that will highlight the city’s unique character as the world’s most developed and fastest growing cities and reflect its experience and achievements in all fields.

Shaikh Hamdan was briefed by Director-General of the GDMO Mona Ghanim Al Marri about the objectives laid out by Brand Dubai in accordance with the vision of Shaikh Mohammed. Lauding the brilliant and innovative ideas proposed, Shaikh Hamdan underscored the importance of particulars as these form the core of distinction. Shaikh Hamdan also directed emphasis on the cultural aspect of Dubai in Brand Dubai’s projects, affirming that the “richness of UAE’s cultural heritage is the fountain for our creativity” and therefore it is ought to be nurtured.

Shaikh Hamdan also listened as Director of Communication and Innovation Noora Al Abbar and her team presented Brand Dubai’s proposed projects which will be implemented in collaboration with a number of government and semi-government departments and private institutions across the emirates, in participation of a number of artists.

Commending the creativity manifested in the proposed projects and the talents behind them, Shaikh Hamdan affirmed that capturing the essence of civilisation in the city of Dubai will be through coupling the modern image of the UAE with its cultural inheritance, thus portraying a city that is Arab by identity but universal in spirit.

Recently, “Dubai Speaks to You”, an initiative by Brand Dubai, launched its inaugural project of a giant mural to cover the hoardings of the construction site of Union House on Jumeirah Road. The project, endorsed by Shaikh Mohammed, documents an important phase in the history of the country and marks the birthplace of the United Arab Emirates 43 years ago.

Brand Dubai’s projects will be implemented in several locations in the city such as public places, beaches, walking and cycling tracks, parking lots etc.
