The President has directed the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation (KZHF) to begin the implementation of this project from June 1. A KZHF source said that President Khalifa has directed them to expand the subsidisation project to include new food items such as dates, cooking oil, juices, various types of water and tomato paste, in addition to the rice and flour which have already been sold to citizens at subsidised prices since long.

The source explained that in order to implement the President’s directives, the KZHF has conducted an extensive study on the ‘Ramadan Ration’ project implemented on yearly basis. According to the study, the project will be replaced by another larger project to increase the number of subsidised goods throughout the year.

He added that citizens will be able to save around Dh13,000 per annum after the new project is implemented instead of Dh1,500 they used to save previously.

He pointed out that the project will be implemented in June 2012 and the subsidised items sold to UAE citizens across the country throughout the year.
