An Arab national called a Sharjah radio programme to appeal for help, as he was struggling to provide shelter to his four kids. And His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, immediately came to his rescue.
The Arab man, Abdul Rahman Al Balushi, was married to an Emirati woman, who had already died. All their four children, who hold Emirati passports, was left in his care but he doesn't have enough to build a home for the family.
He lamented how he couldn't get help from different organisation as he is not a citizen of the UAE.
Al Balushi said that in 2006, the urban planning department promised to grant him a plot of land, but then he had to travel to England for the treatment of his wife who suffered from cancer.
In 2010, his wife died and, when he came back to the UAE, his application for housing was turned down.

Ruler's help
As he was sharing his life struggle on air, the Ruler of Sharjah was listening.
Sheikh Dr Sultan called the programme and granted Al Balushi a plot of land for his family, as well as cash for the immediate construction of their home. It was not the first time that the Ruler offered help to people - citizens and expatriates alike - facing difficult life challenges.
Al Balushi couldn't help but express his gratitude for the generous grant he had received.
