Sharjah — His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued a law amending some provisions of Law No. 3 of 1999 on the establishment of the Advisory Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Article No. 3 of the new law stipulates that the Consultative Council of Sharjah shall consist of 42 members, and half of them shall be chosen through elections organised by a decree, and the Sharjah Ruler will appoint the other half. Article No. 7 stipulated that the term of membership of the council shall be four years.

The decree will be effective from the date of issuance. It annuls all laws that contradict its provisions, and shall be published in the Official Gazette. — Wam
