His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, viewed the working plans and functions of the Expo 2020 team and the Higher Committee on Hosting the World Expo 2020, which is responsible for drawing up plans to organise the event in Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid viewed a presentation by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and Managing Director of the Higher Committee on Hosting the World Expo 2020, on the readiness of Dubai to transform the event into a historic cultural legacy for the peoples of the UAE and other Arab countries through facing, and finding solutions for, the political, economic, geographic, sustainability and energy challenges.

Present at the meeting were Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group and Chairman of the Higher Committee on Hosting the World Expo 2020; Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shibani, Director of Dubai Ruler’s Court; and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai.

Praising the efforts of the Expo 2020 team, Shaikh Mohammed said: “I encourage you and support you in order to create, train and prepare national youth volunteer teams that will act as the civilised image of our people and work hard in such a way to send a message of love, peace and coexistence to all peoples of the world.”

He further emphasised the importance of promoting the culture of volunteering among the youth who can use their energy and their intellectual, cultural and scientific capabilities in the service of their country and for future generations.

Shaikh Mohammed urged the chairman and members of the Expo 2020 committee and team to work hard on promoting the values of citizenship in society, and the culture of social partnership and effective national participation.
