Mohammed foundation helps 8,350 families

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation spent a total of Dh25.6 million on Ramadan charity projects and supported 8,350 families in the UAE.

Ibrahim Bumelha, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the foundation, said, “The foundation went through a list of recorded names and information of those who are in need, to help them get food and funds during the holy month of Ramadan.”

The projects included the distribution of Zakat money, where the foundation receives amounts from the rich and gives it to the poor. “We gave around Dh16 million as Zakat funds to 5,099 families in the country,” Bumelha said.

Another Dh653,000 was raised and given to foster families of orphaned kids to take care of them. The foundation also handed out around 135 tonnes of sugar worth Dh486,000. Internationally, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation has helped around 24,122 citizens in 19 countries.

The project included countries like Somalia, which is registered under critical situations and where the foundation donated sugar and food items worth Dh1 million. Other countries such as Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Mauritania, India, Afghanistan, Ghana and Uganda also benefitted from the project.
