The Ministry of Infrastructure Development is set to be fully Emiratised - with 100 per cent locals employed - by the end of 2017. This is as per a strict plan affirmed by Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.
Abdulrahman Khamis Al Mazmi, manager of the Human Resources Department at the ministry, said they have already localised all the management and supervising positions. "Up to 89 per cent of specialised positions have also been Emiratised, as per a crystal clear policy strictly observed by the ministry, and in view of the UAE federal government's philosophy."
The ministry, in a bid to meet its UAE Vision 2021 goals and the national agenda, spares no effort to attract the most competent UAE nationals, he added, saying: "We try our best to develop our human resources as per the latest international practices."
A number of programmes, activities, and initiatives have been adopted to empower talented nationals. "This policy has significantly boosted our national cadres' capabilities and production."
The ministry has also granted scholarships for some staff employees who wished to continue their post graduate study. "These are added to several Bachelor's degrees, as well as specialised diplomas in human resources, training, communication, and information technology," he stated.
"We have also reached agreements with renowned educational institutions to train, qualify, and develop the skills of our national staffers in different areas."
