Khalifa issues law to support kids of unknown parentage

The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a federal law on the patronage of the children of unknown parentage.

Law No. 1 of 2012 aims at organizing the patronage of the unknown parentage children in the country through the establishment and the development of care homes and to secure the foster families providing the health, psychological, social, recreational and educational care.

The law stipulated that the Ministry of Social Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior shall work on providing foster families for unknown parentage children who meet the conditions stipulated in this law and establishing care homes to be responsible for providing comprehensive care and patronage for them in cooperation with the competent authorities.

Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs said that the law comes in the framework of the keenness of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Federal Government under the leadership of the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to maintain the rights of any unknown parentage child.
