Emirates Identity Authority says and companies can take the personal data on the ID cards of their employees and workers, but can't hold the card.
Emirates Identity Authority has said that institutions or companies are not allowed to hold the ID cards belonging to their staff or workers, nor are they allowed to keep the ID cards and refrain from giving them to the staff.
In a press release, Emirates ID clarified that institutions and companies can take the personal data on the ID cards of their employees and worker, but it is not allowed to hold the ID card unless it was based on adjudication from a specialised court of law. The authority mentioned the importance of carrying the ID card at all times and presenting it in case requested according to the law, as the ID card contains information holding security features that would maintain the privacy and identity of the holder.
The authority also confirmed that it is obligatory to notify them of any changes to the data shown on the ID card within a month of the change date.
Also, the authority should be notified through the registration centres within seven days of the date of losing the card.
A replacement card should be applied for along with the fees and a pledge that the card is not being held by any entity.
