Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved the Hatta Heritage Inn and Market project, which will be completed at a total cost of Dh29 million.

The project has been awarded to a multinational construction company in Dubai and implementation of the project will begin within a few days. The project is expected to be operational in the second half of 2015.

The Dubai Municipality will commence implementation of the project located on the main road between Hatta and Oman in an area of 92,500 square feet. The ground floor of the project consists of 46 stores and three main restaurants with direct views of the valley and beautiful surroundings adjacent to the building, in addition to basic required services, such as prayer rooms, toilets and an administration office.

The first floor contains a multipurpose hall, 32 hotel rooms and two suites that overlook the neighbouring valley. From many of the hotel rooms, visitors can enjoy a view of the whole market through corridors which open directly to the market on the ground floor. Space for 100 cars will be provided around the market and a further special parking area is allocated for tourist buses.

Dubai Municipality has been keen to apply all green building standards in the design of the project so as to ensure that the building will be eco-friendly using environment-friendly building materials.

The project also aims to develop a commercial complex for entertainment featuring a range of professions and traditional activities with a modern approach to reflect the spirit of the past and present, as well as creating a heritage landmark and prominent tourist attraction in Hatta.
