Govt excellence awards on May 13

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Shaikh Khalifa Government Excellence Programme (SKGEP) will organise the award-giving ceremony for the second cycle of Emirates Government Service Excellence Award and Emirate Award for Distinguished Government Performance on May 13.

Hessa Saeed Buhmaid, Executive Director of Excellence Affairs at the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, said preparations were completed to announce results of the second edition of the ward which receives 423 nominations from 41 federal entities (16 ministries and 25 agencies) for various award categories. She unveiled that 215 applicants competed for the Prime Minister’s medals, which are granted to distinguished employees in six employment positions, namely in supervisory, technical, technological and administrative areas; field work and distinguished novice employee.

The award is the highest ranking corporate excellence decoration and has five categories: the main category, which includes awards for entities, zones and departments based on the total number of excellence points; the sub-categories, which include awards for the entity, zone or department that achieves the highest results according to each excellence criterion; the Best Practice category, which covers creativity, performance management, information management, electronic excellence and government. The first edition of the award was held in October 2010. —
