The Dubai Municipality has allocated Dh85million for the recently announced allowance for government employees in the emirate.
Khalid Abdul Rahim Abdullah, Director of Human Resources Department at Dubai Municipality (DM), said that 2,000 employees from different job categories in the civic body will be benefitting from the decision No 15 of 2013 issued by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, regulating the work nature allowance for employees of the Government of Dubai.
The beneficiaries from the Dubai Municipality, he said, are doctors, nurses, pharmacists, engineers, and those who work in legal affairs, human resources, media, control, and audit sections. They fall under the grades from six to 16. The allowance will be 30-60 per cent as per the job description and nature of each employee as stipulated by the Law.
“The Human Resources Department of the Government of Dubai agreed on most of DM’s nominations and on the disbursement of the budget allocated to them. The decision is expected to boost the sentiments of employees who serve the community beyond the normal working hours and thus increase the productivity,” he said in a press statement on Wednesday.
“We recommended 700 job titles for the allowance within various categories mentioned in the resolution in addition to the supervisors of these job titles. It is expected to be credited after two days of receiving the salary of December 2013 retroactively from the date of 01.06.2013.” The department has already transferred Dh40 million to respective accounts and the total amount of allowance will be Dh7 million per month and Dh85 million per annum.
“The decision to provide allowance encompasses conditions and justifications, such as resources, rules of calculation, procedures for approval and cases where to stop dispensing,” he further said.
Abdullah explained that the resolution would enable the department to mitigate corporate risks that affect efficiency and effectiveness, develop performance, enhance ability to attract specialised and distinctive human resources and maintain it. It will also help reduce the impact of risks associated with the functions of some jobs and work environment.
“The move proves that the government of Dubai is doing its best to be in tune with the international labour laws updating its rules and regulations in sync with the expectations of the community,’ he added.
