Crimes in Abu Dhabi have dropped by 13.6 per cent as compared to 2012, the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution said on Saturday.
The number of cases put forward to the public prosecution in the emirate were 74,036 as against 85,685 cases in 2012.
The public prosecution also said that it had dealt with 99.9 per cent cases for six years consecutively.
Drug related cases dropped by 19.3 per cent in 2013 compared to 2012. Breach of trust cases have gone down by 17.3 per cent, cheque related crime cases have been down by 14.1 per cent, and assault cases have come down by 7.2 per cent.
The figures released by the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution showed that municipality fines and related violations fell by 44 per cent. Exploring the annual statistical report of the public prosecution for the year 2013, Counselor Yousof Al Abri, Abu Dhabi Attorney-General confirmed that such a significant drop in crime rate is due to the ongoing efforts exerted by the public prosecution in line with the Abu Dhabi vision 2030.
