A new competition inviting UAE nationals and expats to propose their ideas for turning Dubai into a smart city has been launched.
The competition is aimed at turning the 3rd edition of Dubai International Peace Convention (DIPC) into a smart event in line with the recent initiative of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, of turning Dubai into a smart city.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace, and Chairman of DIPC, Dr Hamad Al Shaikh Ahmad Al Shibani, made the announcement recently at a meeting with the organising committees of DIPC.
The meeting was held to discuss preparations for the event which will be organised by the Award in April 2014.
Affirming the event should be organised in a way that reflects the stature of the UAE, Al Shibani urged nationals and residents to participate in the competition and contribute with their proposals for the smart event. He noted that a specialised committee will consider all proposals and announce the winners who will receive generous cash prizes.
He further noted that contributions should be proposals and ideas that are unique, unprecedented, not presented nor implemented before, and should also be related to the smart government initiative.
On his part, Coordinator-General of DIPC, Dr Omar Al Khateeb, noted that a chat group for the convention was launched on WhatsApp as a first step to bring together all members of the board of trustees and committees and all other workers, in addition to other related similar activities to be announced later. Al Khateeb noted that the 3rd edition of DIPC will be a smart event by all standards.
