The Health Authority Abu Dhabi (Haad) is all set to launch an inaugural mHealth Summit Middle East as part of its wider regional strategy to improve health and fight diseases through mobile health solutions. The summit will take place in Abu Dhabi on May 28 and 29, 2014.

The announcement was made at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Middle East Integrated Health Innovations Conference, which welcomed over 300 local, regional and international delegates for two days of discussions and business networking at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai.

The mHealth Summit has been held in Washington, DC, for the last five years and will now move out of the US capital for the first time to Abu Dhabi.

Ali Mohamed Al Ali, IT Manager at Haad, said: “By forming the mHealth Summit Middle East, we will create a best-practice body of knowledge that allows practical application of mobile health to personal health, public health and clinical care.”

The summit agenda focuses on taking the power of mobile healthcare applications and solutions, and applying them to pressing human needs in health. The event will bring together international speakers and global healthcare experts for discussions on hot topics of the industry, including mobile health for diabetes management, games for health and wellness, mobile platforms to connect patients with healthcare providers and public health empowerment through mobility.
